Das KABUFF in der Bildhauerhalle vom E-WERK ist ein neuer experimenteller Kunstraum für erweiterte künstlerische Produktions- und Präsentationsformen. Damit wird das Schaffen junger KünstlerInnen im E-WERK Freiburg und in Freiburg gefördert.
Die aktuelle Diskussion um Studio und Post-Studio aufnehmend wird Produktion über die Fertigung von Dingen hinaus als Material-Assemblage, Installation, Denkprozess, soziales Event, Performance oder Präsentationsform verstanden. Auch künstlerische Praktiken, die einen erweiterten Bezug zu Text, Sprache, Typographie, Musik oder Film haben, gehören dazu.
Die Fläche des sog. Gastateliers in der Turbinenhalle im 1906 erbauten ehemaligen Elektrizitätswerks wird jungen Kunstschaffenden aus Freiburg und eingeladenen Gästen für die Dauer von ein bis drei Monaten als Arbeitsort zur Verfügung gestellt.
Der Aufenthalt soll insbesondere jungen Künstlerinnen und Künstlern Gelegenheit geben, neue Arbeiten zu konzipieren und umzusetzen und diese in performativen oder diskursiven Formaten vorzustellen. Der aktive Austausch zwischen alten und neuen Akteuren der Stadtgesellschaft erhält dadurch eine Öffentlichkeit. Im KABUFF als sozialer Aktionsraum werden neue Modelle des Zusammenlebens des Schaffens hervorgebracht und erprobt.

The KABUFF at the sculpture hall of the E-WERK is a new experimental art space for extended artistic production and presentation forms. It promotes the work of young artists at E-WERK Freiburg and in Freiburg.
Taking up the current discussion about studio and post-studio, production is understood beyond the manufacturing of things as material assemblage, installation, thought process, social event, performance or presentation form. Artistic practices that have an extended relation to text, language, typography, music or film are also included.
The space of the so-called guest studio in the turbine hall in the former electricity plant built in 1906 is made available to young artists from Freiburg and invited guests as a place to work for a period of one to three months.
The residency is intended to give young artists in particular the opportunity to conceive and realize new works and to present them in performative or discursive formats. The active exchange between old and new actors of the urban society thus receives a public. In KABUFF as a social action space, new models of coexistence of creation are brought forth and tested.
